If you’re looking for a Lido Beach proposal photographer who appreciates a guy who commits to the bit… Quinten just might be my new favorite.

Quinten and Suzanna have been together three years, and when he reached out to plan this, he already had the whole night mapped out. Dinner reservation at Drift, the restaurant at Lido Beach Resort. A story about knowing the GM. And a plan so sneaky that even I was impressed, and I hear a lot of these plans.

The Fake Phone Call That Started It All

Here’s where it gets good.

Quinten told Suzanna he knew the GM at Drift and that he was treating her to a nice dinner there. Sweet, right? Except the whole thing was a setup. While they were arriving at the resort, Quinten had a friend call him, pretending to be the GM, saying the reservation needed to move a little later… ( he even had the name changed in the contacts to represent the name of said “GM”)

So what do you do when you suddenly have time to kill at a beach resort? You take a walk along the beach, obviously. Quinten suggested exactly that, and Suzanna had zero idea she was walking straight into her own proposal.

💡 Angela Tip: A “reason to wait” is one of the best tools in a proposal plan. A fake reservation change, a made-up phone call, a friend who “needs five more minutes”… anything that buys you time and gets your partner moving toward the right spot without asking questions. It works every time.

Walking Straight Toward Me (and She Had No Clue)

I was already posted up on my beach towel, camera ready, filming a sandpiper playing in the waves while I waited. Just another woman enjoying the beach, as far as anyone walking by could tell.

Then I saw them coming. Walking south, right toward me.

Suzanna actually noticed me filming and told Quinten to hurry up so they wouldn’t ruin my shot. She felt bad about it. That’s the part that gets me every time I think about this one… she was worried about interrupting a stranger’s video, with absolutely no idea that stranger was about to document the biggest moment of her life.

Quinten took her concern as his cue. He stopped walking, right in front of me, and dropped to one knee.

I have never been that close to a proposal before. Being right there for it, with that lighting, with the two of them completely unaware of anything but each other… it was awesome and perfect and everything I love about this job.

The Moment She Said Yes

Suzanna’s reaction was pure, unfiltered disbelief.

“I’m your fiance?! I’m gonna be your WIFE?!”

Their energy in that moment was insane, and the love between them was so adorable it was almost hard to keep the camera steady. They weren’t performing for anyone. They were just two people who love each other, completely losing it in the best possible way.

At one point they just stopped and hugged. Really held each other. I got a few frames of it, and then I put the camera down. Some moments are for capturing, and some moments are just for the two people living them. I let them breathe it in without a lens between them, and afterward I told them how special it was to witness. Being able to read a moment like that, and knowing when to just stop shooting, is honestly one of my favorite parts of doing this work.

As they walked back toward the resort for that “delayed” dinner reservation, Quinten sent me a secret text. Suzanna’s parents were actually in town, waiting at Drift for a second surprise.

The man really went all out. A fake phone call, a fake GM, a planted photographer on the beach, and her parents waiting at the restaurant. That is next-level planning, and it is exactly the kind of creativity that makes a proposal unforgettable.
