Some sessions just hit different. And this one? I knew it was going to be special the second Jess asked me to do it.
Jess has been a client and a friend for years. I’ve photographed her family more times than I can count, and every single session has been one of those ones where I leave feeling completely full. So when she announced her pregnancy at last year’s holiday session, I lost it. In the best possible way. And when she came back to me to document this chapter again, I was already emotional before we even started shooting.
This time she wanted studio. Moody. Intimate. A whole different vibe from the outdoor sessions we’ve done together, and honestly? It was everything. I brought the studio to her, we set up the most gorgeous moody setup, and we got to work. Hubby and their son made some appearances (and yes, I cried), but the focus of this session was Jess and her bump. This story. Another baby boy on the way, and I was there to document every second of it.
If you’re looking for a Sarasota maternity photographer who will actually feel like a friend on the other side of the camera, let’s talk. You deserve photos that feel like you.
The light we created in this space was so good. Dark, dramatic, and completely focused on her. That’s the thing about moody studio sessions: there’s nowhere to hide and nothing to distract from the subject. It’s just her, that bump, and everything she’s feeling in this season of life. And Jess brought all of it.
She’s one of those people who just gives you everything in front of the camera. No awkwardness, no stiffness, just pure presence. I’ve been lucky enough to watch her family grow over the years, and getting to be the one who documents this new chapter? Chef’s kiss. Truly.
We did bring hubby and her son in for some of the session, and those photos hit so different. Watching a little one try to understand that there’s a baby in mama’s belly is one of the most precious things I get to witness. We got some sweet family moments, and then we got back to focusing on her.
Because this season deserves its own spotlight. You’re about to add a whole new human to your family, and that is worth documenting on its own terms.
Studio maternity sessions are one of my favorite things to offer, and honestly they’re still a little underrated. There’s something about the controlled environment that lets us really lean into mood and intention. We’re not working around golden hour timing or weather or a busy beach. We’re just creating, start to finish, exactly what the client wants to feel when she looks back at these photos.
For Jess, that meant moody. Romantic. Soft but dramatic. Every image from this session tells you exactly who she is, and I could not be more obsessed with how they turned out.
If your bump is coming and you’ve been on the fence about doing a maternity session in Sarasota, this is your sign. Outdoor, studio, beach, golden hour: whatever your vibe is, I will absolutely show up for it. Maternity sessions start at $625 and they are so worth it. You will want these photos, I promise.
The whole dynamic of your whole family shifts in this season: it goes so fast. And you will want the photos to prove you were here, glowing and present and completely in it. Let’s connect and make it happen.
Jess, thank you for always trusting me with your family’s story. Watching you step into this chapter has been one of my favorite things, and I cannot wait to meet this little guy. You are absolutely radiant. You’re welcome. 🤍
