Some days just hit different. The energy is electric from the very first moment, the people are genuinely so fun to be around, and the whole day unfolds in a way that makes you want to do it all over again. Hannah and Sean’s wedding at The Venue at Hidden Acres in Palmetto, Florida was exactly that kind of day. From the leather sofa and neon signs in the bridal suite to the cold sparklers during their first dance, this wedding was all heart, all fun, and honestly everything I love about this job.

Getting Ready at The Venue at Hidden Acres

We kicked things off in the bridal suite, which is one of my favorite parts of any wedding day, and Hidden Acres’s setup did not disappoint. A tufted leather sofa, a gorgeous green hedge wall, crystal champagne flutes, and a neon sign that read “Girl, you’ve got this!” – I mean. If that doesn’t set the tone, I don’t know what does. Hannah and her girls were laughing, sipping, hyping each other up. The energy in that room was the kind you can’t manufacture. It just was.

Over on the guys’ side, Sean and the groomsmen were doing what groomsmen do – pool table, laughing, somehow looking effortlessly put together. Boutonnieres got pinned, ties got fixed, and suddenly everyone was ready. The hands-in huddle shot is one of my favorites from the whole day.

The First Looks

I have to talk about the dad first look first because I will not be getting over it. Hannah’s dad turned around to see his daughter in her dress and – you know that moment where you can feel it in your chest even through the camera? That was it. He hugged her and they just held on. I love being trusted to witness these moments.

Then Sean. Hannah walked up and when he turned around, he completely lost it. In the absolute best way. Surrounded by palm trees and Spanish moss, with the Florida sky above them – that first look between them was everything. The reaction on his face is one of those images I know she’ll have in her home for the rest of her life.

And then there was Charlie. Their dog. Absolute chaos agent in the best possible way. He ran across the ceremony grounds, crashed portraits, and had the audacity to look adorable the entire time. 10 out of 10, would photograph again.

Wedding Party Portraits

We did wedding party photos on the grounds at The Venue at Hidden Acres and the light was just unreal. The whole crew lined up in front of the venue and honestly? It looked like a movie. Dusty blue dresses, dark suits, white and blue florals with eucalyptus – it was such a cohesive, beautiful look. The bridesmaids with their bouquets were gorgeous, and the full group shot with the barn in the background might be one of my favorite wedding party photos I’ve ever taken.

The groomsmen also decided that the best way to end portraits was to lift Sean into the air while he screamed. Classic. Then they did it to Hannah at golden hour. I have no notes.

The Ceremony

The ceremony was held at the outdoor pavilion at Hidden Acres – shaded, open-air, and absolutely beautiful. The flower girls and ring bearer were the definition of adorable chaos leading down the aisle, and then Hannah came in and every single person in that crowd got emotional. You could feel it.

The ring exchange was quiet and intimate – just the two of them, in their own little world, while everyone who loved them most watched. I spotted grandma in the front row with the biggest smile on her face. Those are the details I always try to catch – the people watching the people.

Portraits – Veils, Spanish Moss, and Golden Hour

Portrait time after the ceremony is one of my favorite parts of the day because everyone is in full celebration mode and the light is usually starting to shift into that golden magic hour glow. Hannah’s veil moving through the Spanish moss trees? I will be thinking about it for a long time. And then the groomsmen lifting Hannah into the air during golden hour – the light, the energy, the laughing – it was perfect.

The Reception

The entrance alone set the tone for the entire night. The wedding party lined up with lit marquee signs – “Here come the newlyweds!”, “Just Married! 04.11.2026”, “Let’s Party!” – glow sticks already in hand, and the second Hannah and Sean walked through that door the whole barn erupted. It was loud and chaotic and absolutely perfect.

The father-daughter dance by the barn window was one of those quiet, tender moments that hit differently when it’s surrounded by that much noise and celebration. You could feel the whole room hold its breath a little.

Then the first dance. Cold sparklers flanking both sides of the dance floor, the white draping on the barn ceiling catching the light, that gorgeous diamond window behind them. Sean dipped Hannah in the middle of it all and I genuinely had to remind myself to keep shooting. He lifted her up, they kissed, sparklers shooting in every direction – it was cinematic in real life. The Love is Sweet neon sign at the cake cutting, the group shot on the dance floor, friends piling into the barn windows – the whole reception was full of moments I didn’t want to miss.

And then the sparkler exit. Outside at night, guests lined up holding sparklers, a cold sparkler machine going off in the background, and Sean dipping Hannah one more time right in the middle of all of it. The venue lit up behind them, everyone cheering. That’s how you end a wedding.

Angela’s Tips for Your Hidden Acres Wedding

Getting married at The Venue at Hidden Acres or somewhere similar in the Parrish/Palmetto area? Here’s what I’ve learned from shooting there:

1. Build buffer time into getting ready. The bridal suite at Hidden Acres is beautiful – the grass wall, the leather sofa, the lighting. You’re going to want time here. Don’t let getting ready feel rushed.

2. Do a first look. Hannah and Sean’s first look was one of the most emotional moments of the day, and it also gave them a calm, private moment together before the ceremony madness kicked in. I recommend it for almost every couple.

3. Bring your dog. Okay, this is personal, but Charlie made this wedding and I will stand by that forever. If your venue allows pets, do it.

4. Protect your golden hour. In Florida, the end-of-day light is genuinely magic. Build at least 15-20 minutes into your timeline for portraits during golden hour. It is always, always worth it.

5. Let the reception breathe. The best moments happen when people are free to just be in it. Don’t over-schedule the evening. Leave room for the cold sparklers, the group shots, the spontaneous dip during the exit.
